The future for cars is brighter than ever!
What a wonderful weekend in the Dolomites around Madonna di Campiglio: with iconic cars and car enthusiasts from around the world. I enjoyed driving one of the most iconic cars that VW has built to date – a classic Beetle, a car that brought individual freedom and mobility to a whole generation.
It sometimes seems as if the end of individual mobility might be the ultimate solution to climate change in the current political debate. But I strongly believe that getting rid of cars individual freedom for that matter – just isn‘t the solution. Quite the contrary, it would deprive us from the achievements and the quality of life that we have acquired over the past decades. I’m convinced that new technologies, e-mobility, automated driving, will allow more, not fewer, people to drive cars – even big ones – and enjoy their individual freedom or simply have fun. And even for the occasional day out with a historic treasure like the Volkswagen Beetle or a Porsche 911 there will be a place in an emission-free future.
Five stars for the Stella Alpina – a compact not too busy event for vintage cars. Not yet too crowded like some others – and well organized.
A fresh treatment in terms of mobility, car culture and travel through beautiful landscapes over famous pass roads combined with Italian-South Tyrolean hospitality. An experience – more so after being locked up by Covid.
